I have. Who hasn't?
Today, we-- Orihime, Roran, Shikuta and I-- had a reconnaissance mission. We had to scout out the foot hills behind Konoha. Guess what? The enemy was still there, lying in wait for some people to return. People like us. There were corpses littered all over, some defeated enemies, most fallen comerades.
"Get in the trees and be ready to run, fight or both! Now!" Ordered Orihime.
"What about you?!" I cried. The enemy was nearing.
"Just go!" Shouted Orihime, frustrated now. Did I mention she has a short temper?
"C'mon Kyoko!" Shouted Shikuta.
"C'mon Kyoko!" Shouted Shikuta.
There was a rustling behind me in the bushes, right when I was about to leave.
"Orihime! Behind you!!" I warned.
There was a sudden crash, and a tree branch came down on Shikuta. He told us to leave him-- We said no. Just as we got him out and standing, they were upon us.
As I was drawing out my bladed fan, I began running up the nearest tree. I could hear my pursuers, and easily kill them, but I refrained and put my fan back. I love a good chase!
As I was jumping from branch to branch, I could hear the enemy gaining. I wasn't even at half speed, but I could here them exerting themselves to keep up. I started to veer of course to lose them. I looped around several trees, jumped from unlikely distances to lose them-- All silently. Then, after I had jumped from a low branch to the top of the tree, I waited until they were several hundred metres away, and stepped off the branch to drop to the forest floor. Roughly 12 metres from the ground, I pulled out of my dive to slice the tree and mark to my pursuers where I was going. I took a running leap back onto a branch maybe 15m up, and began to track my companions.
Perhaps I should have never left.
But I'm a little late to regret.
